In this week’s Socially Ausome Podcast, I delivered one of my boldest truths yet: Your story is your biggest sales weapon.

Forget the perfectly curated feeds, Canva templates, and trending audios—your dream clients don’t care about that. What they’re craving is YOU, the real you, and the story only you can tell.

Here’s why your story is the key to turning scrollers into buyers, and how to leverage it to make authentic, money-making content.

Cute isn’t paying the bills.

Spending hours on perfectly coordinated pastel feeds or trendy fonts feels safe.

But here’s the truth: Your dream clients aren’t handing over their credit cards because your grid looks good. What they’re actually looking for is connection, and if your content doesn’t reflect who you truly are, they’ll scroll right past you.

As I shared in the episode, “Cute might get likes, but it sure as hell isn’t going to get them to click buy.” So, stop wasting time trying to match someone else’s vibe—it’s not working

The Fear of Showing Up Authentically

I get it—putting yourself out there feels scary. What if your story isn’t “good enough”? What if no one engages? But let me remind you: The real you is more than enough.

Your dream clients are tired of the cookie-cutter, surface-level content clogging their feeds. They want to work with someone who understands their struggles and offers a solution.

Your Story Does Three Powerful Things:

It Builds Trust
“Your audience wants to see someone who gets them,” I explained in the episode.

They want to know you’ve been where they are and come out on the other side. Sharing your struggles and victories makes you relatable—and trustworthy.

It Creates Connection
People buy from people, not pastel grids or perfectly polished captions. “Your dream clients want YOU, not just your branding,” I said. Start showing them the real you.

It Differentiates You
No one else has your exact story or can tell it the way you do. Your story is your secret sauce. “Lean into it,” I emphasized, “because it’s the one thing no one can replicate.”

“How Do I Use My Story in My Content?”

If you’ve been asking yourself this question, here are three actionable steps I shared:

  1. Share Your Struggles
    The mistakes you’ve made, the challenges you’ve overcome—these are the stories that resonate. As I said, “How the fuck did we become an expert if we didn’t make mistakes?”

  2. Highlight Your Transformation
    Think of your story as a “before and after.” Where were you before? How did you get to where you are now? What steps can your audience take to create the same transformation for themselves?

  3. Make It About Them
    Your story matters, but it needs to connect back to your audience’s pain points. How can they see themselves in your journey? How does your win help solve their problem?

Stop Hiding Behind the Aesthetic

One of the biggest takeaways from this episode was this hard truth: You’re hiding behind aesthetics because it feels safer than showing up authentically.

Yes, being real is uncomfortable. But as I said, “When you stop bending over backward to be someone that you’re not, that’s when everything changes.” The second you start showing up as yourself, the people who are truly aligned with your energy will notice—and they’ll stick around.

Real Stories Create Real Results

During a recent membership call, one of my students shared how her most viral reel wasn’t polished or perfect—it was a mistake she owned and shared authentically. This goes to show that vulnerability builds trust and connection faster than perfection ever could.

As I told her (and my listeners): Your story is what builds your brand, not your fonts or filters.
